I Thought I Had Nothing To Say
During my morning chat with my mother one day last week, she asked what I had going on for the day. I checked my schedule, and saw that there were no appointments. I don’t work outside the home so it seemed like I would be busy being a hausfrau that day. I felt dejected for a minute. Then, I remembered I am a writer.
I normally have a few ideas brewing in my head for writing topics. On that Monday morning, I thought for a minute that I had none. I caught myself and gave myself a good pep talk. I said, “Wait one minute, you have traveled around the sun 55 times. You have had excitement, adventure, pain, heartbreak, health crises, joy, and the full range of human experience and emotion.” I got to work writing “The Nanny Chronicles” about the ups and downs of having domestic help:
That particular story took me a few days to finish since much of it took place in the distant past, and I had to creatively fill in the memory gaps. I’ve noticed here on Medium that it isn’t always the “big” stories that get the most attention.
I will keep writing about any part of being human so as to inform, inspire or entertain anyone who cares to read. Won’t you?
